Maladaptive Vivisection
Maladaptive Vivisection is a visual novel currently in development by Terminal Sisters Art Collective, using the Godot game engine.
Malory and Vivian are a pair of transgender twins living in a sleepy American college town. Juggling their undergraduate courseload, their underdeveloped social lives, and their responsibilities at home, is a daunting enough challenge for the two sisters. Coming out as trans in their teenage years, they’ve both already been through more grief and turmoil than most of the adults around them. But their lives take a turn for the worst when a mutual close friend of theirs is found butchered in a campus supply closet.
The police have ruled it a suicide. Campus administrators simply call it “the tragedy”. But Mal and Viv know better. Someone is guilty of this heinous act of violence, and they will not rest until a culprit is found. No matter how many stones are overturned, no matter how many ugly secrets this little town has to hide, their friend will have justice. Mal and Viv will solve this mystery, if it’s the last thing they do.
Maladaptive Vivisection is a psychological horror visual novel. It features a pair of sisters who pull each other into a pit of obsession, trauma, and transfeminine rage. How do these two sisters cope with the knowledge that the place they’ve called home all their lives is no longer safe for people like them? That the people they once loved and looked up to no longer trust or believe anything they say? How far are they willing to go in pursuit of their vision of justice, and is that justice even attainable? What dark truths lie not just in the hearts of the hateful and ignorant, but in their own hearts as well? What does love look like in a world running on hate?
This game contains depictions of violence, body horror, self-harm, and sexual themes. Suitable for ages 18 and up.
